Extrait de "La dernière mine" - Excerpt from "The Last Mine"

Gilles Gauthier, 56 lives amidst an unorthodox landscape. The path to his home zigzags through mining properties, which he has grown to value. He was born in the region and like his father and grandfather started working in the Asbestos mine as soon as he could. He still works there, 30 years later despite the closures of most mines. Nowadays, the Black Lake operation is the last remaining Asbestos mine in the region - which once boasted with over 10 mines - and in Canada. Like many of his colleagues, he hopes that the mine will remain open, at least until he reaches retirement in a few years.
